![]() ![]() That never sat well with me, since 1) It's a paradox and 2) It really doesn't explain much. The creation of Home World, however, is only vaguely explained by ghost Lucca (at the very end of Cross), who claims a future Kid will travel back in time to save Serge from drowning in 1010 AD. My guess is it was left defunct in 1999 AD, where the Frozen Flame (if it were truly powering the Mammon Machine) was later found and included in Chronopolis, leading to the Time Crash and creation of El Nido and birth of Serge. Only Gaspar mentions that she might have finally "found peace". But then neither her nor the Black Omen are ever seen again. ![]() I suppose that could be one sequence of events, but I'm not sure if it explains how Serge is responsible for the future being destroyed again.Īs for the Black Omen, it's hinted that Queen Zeal creates a Gate to 1999 AD right after her defeat, since the "end of the world" sequence plays followed by the final Lavos fights. They get pretty deep into the lore there. There might be more discussions about this on Chrono Compendium. So CC could be events related to just this one split that started from Schala's contact with young Serge. I think there are some points in RD and/or CC that allude to countless alternate worlds existing. CC & RD kind of deal with parallel dimensions type stuff, which would likely be in the form of branching timelines, based on their CT roots. Maybe he is the key catalyst/trigger in that particular split in the timeline (one that created the whole CC sequence). I'm not sure how it all adds up myself, but supposedly Serge is somehow unique and tangled up with the time and/or dimension travel phenomena. It's partly from RD lore and partly as remnants of when Serge was briefly considered as an incarnation of Janus or something by the devs. There is an implied special connection between Serge and Kid/Schala. Well, there was that bit where Serge comes into contact with Schala or the Frozen Flame or some such as a child, when his dad and Miguel were trying to save him and ended up in the Dead Sea area. ![]() will gain extraordinary powers! By binding with the new seed of destruction, the "Devourer of Time!" Somewhat suggesting that one of Serge's possible futures is merging with the Time Devourer much like Schala, I guess being the catalyst for the end of the world? There's also Belthasar stating that Serge "as the mediator between Lavos and living things. Since they don't travel to the "prong" that is Home World, Lavos still lives in that future, which is represented by the Dead Sea. Meaning when they time travel from 12000 BC to 1999 AD to defeat Lavos, the original team remains on the fork's handle, or "true" dimension. but that Home World is actually a fork off of the "true" dimension where Crono & Co. The "best" theory I've read is that Another World and Home World aren't really alternate dimensions in the conventional sense (i.e. It's not really explained unfortunately, much less the entire Dead Sea event. ![]()
